The Kerala High Court on Monday ruled out the need for a CBI enquiry into the rape and murder of 30-year-old Jisha in Perumbavoor.

The court was hearing a number of petitions with regard to the case, including pleas for a CBI enquiry. IG Mahipal Yadav submitted a progress report to the High Court on Monday.

According to reports, the court held that the investigation headed by senior IPS officers should continue and that CBI intervention at this stage would not be suitable.

Jisha was found sexually assaulted and brutally murdered at her residence on April 28, following which, some organizations had demanded a CBI enquiry.

The court also criticised the media for revealing the victim’s identity and observed that the media is entitled to protect the identity of a rape victim even after death.
