The Kerala government's decision to change the logo for the Kudumbashree Mission, the women self-help group scheme, to the image of a lotus has stirred up a huge controversy as it is similar to the election symbol of BJP. CPI (M) has alleged that government’s new move is to appeal to the Sangh groups.
The opposition party has also alleged that the old logo was changed for no reason.
“The mission functions under the social welfare and panchayat minister M K Muneer. It is clear that both the chief minister and the social welfare minister were aware of the change of the logo. The chief minister was supporting the RSS and the Hindutva forces who were dividing the society,“ the CPM state secretariat said in a statement, The Times of India reports.
The statement reportedly said that the old logo was well liked by all and was popularised in the minds of people.
As per the Kudumbashree sources, the logo was changed to make the products more attractive as its being exported to other countries.
