Malayalis know how to take a joke: Hilarious memes mocking people on Emirates Dubai flight

video shot by a passenger on the Emirates airliner that crash-landed in Dubai shows people frantically trying to collect their baggage while black plumes of smoke stream into the plane. Thanks to the efficiency of the crew, all 282 passengers escaped the fire. But the evacuation process was held up quite a bit by the frenzied searching for laptops and suitcases even as the crew members were urging the passengers to leave their baggage behind and cooperate.

As was only to be expected, the flight to Dubai was full of Malayalees and the Internet is having a laugh at their expense. But who is doing the laughing? Other Malayalees, of course! Take a look at these hilarious memes that have surfaced after the incident:

Hansika: Can't you see the plane is on fire? Why aren't you getting off?

Udhayanidhi Stalin: We still haven't got the change for the beer that we bought, babe!

Captain Raju: STTTTOPP! I can’t find my mobile charger!

Srinivasan: When the flight was on fire, I was not searching for my mango pickle but for my certificates.

Mohanlal: If you'd searched for five more minutes, you'd have got a new certificate. Death certificate.

Panel 2: The Malayalee passenger on seeing the media: My two iPhones and laptop were lost but it's okay, it's our life that is important!

To be fair, it isn’t only Malayalee passengers or Indians who do this. Last year, when a British Airways flight caught fire in Las Vegas, there were many passengers who not just ‘saved’ their baggage but also had the time to stand on the tarmac and click photographs! After all, in this age of social media, what’s an ‘adipoli’ story without ‘adipoli’ pictures?
