The Prime Minister and the Home Minister of the country have both spoken to the Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy, and assured him of all help from the central government for dealing with the aftermath of the fire at Paravoor’s Puttingal temple at Kollam, Kerala.

On his Twitter account, Home Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his sadness at the news of the fire and called the event “deeply distressing”.

He also said that he had spoken to the Kerala Chief Minister, and assured him “of all possible help from the Centre.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on his account that he had spoken to the Kerala CM, and that he had directed Health Minister JP Nadda “to immediately reach the site of the fire tragedy in Kollam.”

The PM added that he himself would soon be arriving in Kerala himself to “take stock of the situation arising” due to the fire.
