Buoyed by LDF's massive win in the Kerala Assembly polls, senior leaders of the CPI(M)-led alliance said on Thursday that the people of the state gave a verdict against corruption in Congress-led UDF rule and ‘communal politics’ practised by BJP-led NDA.
"Congress-led UDF has suffered a huge blow, winning only a few seats. However, its partners -- Muslim League and Kerala Congress -- did not meet such a fate. It is a verdict against Congress' policy," felt CPI(M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
He added the next LDF government would work for the welfare of the people of the state. Kodiyeri alleged that it was the Congress which helped BJP open its account in Kerala: "They voted for BJP candidate O Rajagopal in Nemom constituency."
Hailing the verdict -Leader of the Opposition in the outgoing Kerala Assembly- V S Achuthanandan termed it as one against the UDF government, which blindly followed "anti-people" policies of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.
"It is a verdict against a government which failed to give protection to women in the state," remarked Achuthananadan, who retained Malampuzha Assembly seat with a massive margin.
Extending greetings to the people for giving LDF a "spectacular" victory, CPI(M) politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan reiterated the people of Kerala have rejected the politics of communal and divisive forces.
"People of Kerala have approved the developmental policies of LDF," opined Vijayan in his constituency Dharmadom in Kannur district after his thumping victory. CPI Kerala State Secretary Kanam Rajendran called it a verdict against corruption under the UDF rule.
