With all eyes on the high-profile case involving a Malayalam actor’s abduction and alleged sexual assault, Kerala DGP TP Senkumar issued a letter to his subordinate officers urging them to conduct the probe in a “professional manner”.

The letter sent to ADGP B Sandhya, Crime Branch IG Dinendra Kashyap, IGP P Vijayan and Ernakulam Rural SP AV George came on the same day Senkumar is set to retire.

According to media reports, the outgoing DGP is said to have expressed concern over sensitive information being leaked to the media. The top cop also reportedly enquired about the alleged role of actor Dileep in the case.

Directing ADGP Sandhya to jointly work the investigative team, Senkumar also reported pointed out that it is IG Dinendra Kashyap who is leading the investigation. The DGP’s directive comes in the wake of the IG not being kept in the loop regarding developments in the case, reported Malayalam media.

Reports note that Senkumar asked the team to cooperate and jointly conduct a scrutiny of all the evidences.

While DGP Senkumar has so far refrained from directly intervening in the probe, the top cop reportedly made enquiries with IG Dinendra Kashyap about the developments in the case.

Malayalam media had on Friday morning reported that the outgoing DGP was unsatisfied with the probe. He, however, later clarified that he was satisfied with the investigation but had only asked the team to jointly conduct the probe.

The DGP’s letter comes just days after actor Dileep and his friend and director Nadirshah were grilled for nearly 13 hours by the investigating team led by ADGP Sandhya on Wednesday. The team revealed that the actor was questioned over his alleged involvement in the crime.

The team is also reportedly making inquiries into Dileep's real estate dealings.

Meanwhile, several media outlets reported that prime accused Pulsar Suni has told police that the "quotation" for the crime was given to him four years ago, for a reward of Rs 1.5 Crore.

A Malayalam woman actor was abducted and allegedly sexually assaulted in a moving car near Angamaly in February.
