The people of Kerala woke up on Tuesday morning to the sad and shocking news of the death of noted singer and violinist Balabhaskar, who breathed his last following a massive cardiac arrest during the early hours of the morning. Following the news of his demise, fans, well-wishers and friends of the musician took to social media to share their grief.

Balabhaskar will be cremated on Wednesday, and a postmortem will be conducted today. His body will be kept at University College in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, and the public can go pay their homage to the violinist-singer. 

In a statement, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan offered his respects to the singer. “This incident, which comes a week after the death of his daughter Tejaswini, has caused immense sadness to all Malayalees. With the passing away of Balabhaskar, who was active in the music field for almost a quarter of a century, the music world has lost a talented artist,” said Pinarayi Vijayan.

Noted music composer, film director and actor Vineeth Sreenivasan, who called Balabhaskar ‘Balu etta’,  took to Twitter to share his grief. “Thank you for the advices you gave me Balu etta.. It’s really really hard to believe the news.. It was an honour knowing u, performing with u.. You were a genius.. your performances will always be remembered.. and ur smile will stay in people’s hearts.. RIP #Balabhaskar,” he tweeted.

Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Dulquer Salmaan and Anjali Menon, among others, took to Twitter to condole his untimely death.

“Too soon. Too unfair. Rest in peace Balu. May you and your lil one be together in a better place,” tweeted actor Prithviraj.
