An 11-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man on Friday were injured in two separate bomb explosions in Kerala’s Kannur district.
Iratty native Abdul Razak was injured while clearing weeds in his compound, when a local bomb hidden among the weeds exploded. Razak is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mangalore, after he was first admitted to AKG hospital in Kannur.
Hours later, an 11-year-old boy Devanand from Koothuparamba in Kannur was injured in a similar incident. The incident occurred at the residence of Devanand’s aunt.
According to Malayala Manorama, the boy accompanied a neighbor to the house that has been uninhabited for years. The explosion occurred when the boy pulled out a brick from the chimney of the house. He sustained injuries on his hands and eyes and has been admitted to Kozhikode medical college.
The police seized three local bombs from the house.
Speaking to reporters, CPI (M) Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan said that RSS was responsible for the two incidents.
“These are the bombs that RSS has created for Ganapati Charturti,” he alleged.
Reports say that the police suspect the local bombs to have been planted at these spots during a recent CPI (M)-RSS clash in the district. Panoor CI AK Shaji said that the police are investigating into the matter.
A 24-year-old BJP worker had died a few days back while making crude bombs at his residence in Kannur. The police had recovered lethal weapons including swords and knifes from his house.
