With two days left for results of Kerala assembly elections to be declared on May 19, the incumbent UDF government hopes against hope to retain power in the state.
Most of the exit polls released late on Monday indicate that the Left will return to power in Kerala. Out of the four exit polls released on Monday, only one predicts a hung assembly, while the rest predicts a clean sweep for LDF.
The UDF however continues to remain optimistic about its chances of a win. On Tuesday, Kerala Congress (M) supremo KM Mani rubbished the exit poll results saying, “No exit poll is as accurate as the people’s choice, and that will be revealed on 19th.”
According to reports, he further added that the Kerala Congress will win Poonjar and Pala constituencies and that the UDF will win more than 75 seats.
Saying that he does not wish to indulge in a feud over exit polls, KPCC President VM Sudheeran reiterated his earlier stance of the UDF being able to win and that too with a massive majority this time in the state.
IUML leader PK Kunhalikutty said in Malappuram that he would not give undue importance to the exit poll results: “There is no doubt that UDF will retain power in Kerala. There have been instances in the past were exit polls predicted a Left win, but were later proved wrong.”
