Veteran Malayalam actor Nedumbram Gopi passes away at 85

Veteran Malayalam actor Nedumbram Gopi, known for playing pious parts in films, passed away on Tuesday from age-related illnesses at a local private hospital, according to family sources. He was 85.

He had worked for the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) Limited previously. Filmmaker Blessy's critically acclaimed picture Kaazhcha served as his acting debut. In the 2004 movie, he portrayed Mammootty's father, and the audience had praised his performance. His work as a father and grandfather in the film was well-received.

Later, he had brief but memorable appearances in a few films directed by eminent filmmaker Jayaraj and starring actors like Suresh Gopi, Jayaram, and others.

The actor's significant films include "Seelabathi," "Ashwaroodhan," "Anandabhairavi," "Alif," and "Anachandam."

Gopi leaves behind his wife and three kids.

Condoling his demise, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said: “Heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of actor Shri Nedumbram Gopi whose acting was marked by a maturity that endeared him to audiences. May his soul attain Mukti.

Superstar Mammootty took to Facebook to offer tributes to the actor.
