The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Tuesday announced the results for the Class 10 (ICSE) and Class 12 (ISC) examinations held earlier this year.

Bengaluru’s Vibha Swaminathan, a student of Mallya Aditi International School, has scored cent per cent result in the ISC Class 12 examination. Vibha, who is from the humanities stream, shares the top spot with Devang Kumar Agarwal from La Martiniere Boys School in Kolkata, who has also achieved 100 per cent result in the stream of science. 16 candidates have attained the second rank and 36 candidates have attained the third rank in ISC across the country.

Meanwhile, Juhi Rupesh Kajaria from Mumbai and Manhar Bansal from Muktsar, Punjab scored 99.60% to top the Class 10 ICSE examination.

In ICSE examination, the western region has achieved the best pass percentage (99.76%) followed by the southern, eastern and northern regions. The southern region has retained the position of highest pass percentage in ISC examination from last year with 98.91%. The second position is obtained by the western region, followed by eastern and northern regions.

The pass percentage for ICSE is 98.54% which has gone up by 0.03% from last year. The pass percentage for ISC is 96.52%, up by 0.31% from last year. According to reports, girls have outperformed the boys once again.

For the first time, paper-wise marks will be available for ICSE students in subjects like English, Science and Social Studies. English consists of paper 1 and paper 2, Science comprises of Physics, Chemistry and Biology while Social Studies has History & Civics and Geography papers.

The ICSE report cards and passing certificates will be sent to schools on May 11, 2019, while the ISC report cards and pass certificates will be sent on May 8, 2019.

This year, ICSE examination took place between February 22 and March 25, 2019, whereas ISC exams were held from February 4 to March 25, 2019.

In 2018, the pass percentage of ICSE was 98.51% while that of ISC was 96.21%. The southern region had outperformed all other areas in both ICSE (99.69%) and ISC (98.38%) exams. Girls had shown a better performance than boys is both examinations.
