The Kerala High Court has issued a directive which restricts students from taking their vehicles inside the campus of educational institutions, on Tuesday.

This directive comes while the court was hearing a plea of 79 students who were rusticated by the institution after the alleged murder of a female student of College of Engineering in Thiruvananthapuram.

In August, Thasni Basheer, a civil engineering student was mowed down by a jeep driven by other students on campus during Onam celebrations.

The local police had booked the students who were onboard the jeep at the time of the incident and had also seized the vehicle.

The other directives by the High Court include barring of any celebrations inside the campus post 9 PM. Even two wheelers with ‘blaring sounds’ are also banned within educational centres.

However, teachers and other staff are allowed to use their vehicles inside the campus.
