Friday, June 16, was supposed to be the last date for applying for the exam that would recruit graduates for non-gazetted government jobs. But thanks to glitches in the website for the Staff Selection Commission’s (SSC) ‘Combined Graduate Level Examination’ (CGLE), the date has been extended till June 19.

In a statement, the commission said, “It has come to the Notice of the Commission that some of the applicants have faced technical problems in filling online application forms for CGLE, 2017 during the last two days. Keeping in view this inconvenience caused to the applicants, the Commission has, in the interest of the applicants, decided to extend the last date of filling of online application forms for CGLE, 2017 till 5 PM on 19.6.2017.”

The SSC holds the CGLE for selecting candidates for various posts in the different central government ministries and departments, in the Group C and D categories. Held in two stages, the exam is scheduled to be conducted between August 1 and August 20 this year.

Speaking to TNM, Vivek, a candidate from Tirunelveli said, “I have been trying to apply for the examination for the last one week. Whenever I try to apply the website shows an error message. I raised a complaint on the website and got an automated response that my complaint has been accepted but no action has been taken. I also tweeted about it tagging Sushma Swaraj.”

In fact, the forum of the National Consumer Complaint Forum is filled with the grievances of students who tried to apply for the exam.

“I am Mayank, i am trying to fill SSC CGL 2017 form from last 2 days but the site is not responding as it shows that CAN NOT CONNECT TO THE SERVER. PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER. I don’t want to lose the chance to fill the form as tomorrow is the last day of application. Please resolve the issue as soon as possible,” wrote one candidate.

Another candidate, Rishav Verma, wrote, “I have been trying to open the registration link to apply for cgl2017 since last few days but everytime the webpage produces an error saying "unable to connect to server. please try again later" . as the last date to apply for cgl is tomorrow we don't have enough time to wait for the problem to be solved. hence it is my humble request to please look into the matter and solve it immediately. thank you.”

There are candidate who have tweeted about this issue.
