An FIR was filed against activist Traffic Ramaswamy in Chennai on Friday after a complaint was filed by another activist Kishore K Swamy, alleging that Ramaswamy was spreading rumours about the health of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
In his complaint, Swamy wrote, “Mr. Traffic Ramaswamy and Fathima, who claims to be his assistant, have been spreading rumours on the state of the health of the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu under the garb of social activism.”
He claims that they are widely sharing videos which appear to have been made with a criminal intent of creating panic among the public and instigate violence against the police and judiciary.
Kishore K Swamy also blames Ramaswamy of casting aspersion on individuals who are close to the Chief Minister by making wild accusation bereft of truth.
“Threatening government servants, intimidating the police and abusing the Chief Justice of Tamil Nadu are all unparadonable and if left free will encourage social and anti-national activities in the otherwise peaceful state of Tamil Nadu,” he added in the complaint.
He also asked Chennai city police commissioner to initiate action against Ramaswamy and his assistant Fathima.
So far, six people have been arrested for spreading rumours about Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s health or ‘mocking’ her, including two who were arrested for ‘gossiping’ about Jayalalithaa at a bank in Coimbatore.
TN CM Jayalalithaa has been admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Chennai since September 22, and there has been no official update on her health status since October 10.
