Dispelling all rumours of TN Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's health, Apollo hospitals announced on Sunday that there was no need to take her abroad for treatment and that she was responding well to treatment.
Speaking to the media at the Apollo Hospital premises in Greams Road in Chennai, Subbiah Vishwanathan, the COO of the hospital, said that she had fever and dehydration at the time of admission on 22 September.
Treatment was commenced immediately and her fever was controlled the very next day, according to him.
The COO said that she was under normal diet now and responding well to treatment.
All necessary tests are being conducted and medications being given, he said.
Subbiah Vishwanathan further emphasized that all rumours regarding her health and that she is to be taken abroad for treatment are false and baseless.
She has been advised rest for a few more days and she will be discharged in a "few days", he added.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo hospitals in Chennai on Thursday evening.
A health bulletin released by the hospital after midnight of Thursday said that the Chief minister was suffering from fever and dehydration. The hospital statement had said that that Chief Minister was being kept under observation.
The 68-year-old Chief Minister suffers from diabetes, hypertension and cellulitis. This was disclosed by her lawyers in her bail petition to the Karnataka High Court in 2014 after her conviction in the disproportionate assets case.
