A sessions court in Tindivanam, Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday awarded life imprisonment to six persons for killing a PMK party member in April, 2013.

The Second Additional District and Sessions Court Judge P.Selva Muthukumari held them guilty and convicted them for offences including murder, possession of deadly weapons and rioting, as reported by The Hindu. The judge pronounced the crime to be ‘rarest of rare’ while awarding the life sentence.

The six has been identified as M.Manikandan, V.Raghu, E.Senthilkumar, S.Parinathan, M.Raji, M.Sekar, according to the chargesheet filed by CB CID police.

On April 25, 2013, cadres of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi  in Marakkanam engaged in a violent clash which resulted in the death of PMK worker identified as Selvaraj.

The clash had broken out when PMK supporters gathered in Marakkanam to attend the Chithra Pournami Youth Peruvizha and there was extensive damage of property and injuries reported.
