The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday filed a criminal defamation case against TNCC chief E V K S Elangovan for his alleged remarks against Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

City Public Prosecutor M L Jegan filed the case before the Principal Sessions Court.

According to the CPP, Elangovan had allegedly made the remarks in an interview to a TV channel on April 30.

The City Public Prosecutor said the case was filed as Elangovan's remarks were defamatory in nature.

On May 11, the government had filed a criminal defamation case against Elangovan for his alleged remarks against Governor K Rosaiah.
