The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday granted Rs 20 lakh each to the families of four men from CRPF who were killed in a Maoist attack in Sukhma district of Chattisgarh on Monday.
The four CRPF men are M Padhmanabhan from Thiruvaru, N Senthil Kumar from Needamangalam, N Thirumurgan from Salem and P Alagupandi from Madurai.
In a statement, Chief Minister Edapaddi Palanisamy said that he condoles the deaths of the CRPF men and has sanctioned an amount of Rs 20 lakh to their families, reported The Times of India.
The father of P Alagupandi, Pitchaialagu, told The New Indian Express that they were about to get him married. A few days ago, he had said that he will be taking a week’s leave to meet the girl. He was working as a constable with the CRPF and was killed by the Maoists.
N Thirumurgan’s relatives said that when he was going to join the CRPF, he was very happy and proud to be able to serve the country.
M Padmanabhan from Thiruvarur had already opted for voluntary retirement and was to be relieved from his duty on May 31. He is survived by his wife and two children. His mortal remains were brought to Trichy on Tuesday.
N Senthilkumar’s mortal remains were also flown to Trichy in an IAF aircraft and later taken to his native place by road.
