The construction of a road overbridge (ROB) and a subway on the Chennai Egmore-Villupuram section will cause several trains to be cancelled or rescheduled on Sunday, June 23. The ROB will be between Guduvanchery and Vandalur, while the subway is being planned at the Ottivakkam-Chengalpattu line. The Southern Railways has announced that this power block will be effected for 14 hours from 12.40 am to 2.40 pm.

Seven trains, including the Chennai Egmore–Puducherry Passenger leaving Chennai Egmore at 6.35 am, will be cancelled and 34 EMU trains between Tambaram and Chengalpattu/Tirumalpur will be partially cancelled in both directions.

The southern railways has also rescheduled three trains, including the Chennai Egmore–Madurai TEJAS Express (Train no. 22671), scheduled to leave Chennai Egmore at 6 am. It will now be leaving Chennai Egmore at 6.45 am.

The cancelled trains, in addition to the Pondicherry Passenger, includes Chennai Beach-Melmaruvathur MEMU train leaving Chennai Beach at 8.25 am, Melmaruvathur-Villupuram MEMU leaving Melmaruvathur at 11.30 am, Villupuram-Melmaruvathur MEMU leaving Villupuram at 1.55 pm, Melmaruvathur-Chennai Beach MEMU leaving Melmaruvathur at 3.30 pm, Villupuram-Tambaram passenger leaving Villupuram at 5.20 am and and Tambaram-Villupuram passenger leaving Tambaram at 6.10 pm. 

Among the partially cancelled suburban trains, fifteen suburban trains from Chennai Beach to Chengalpet leaving from 3.55 am to 1.45 pm and three EMUs from Chennai Beach to Tirumalpur leaving at 6.30 am, 7.05 am, 1.30 pm will run only up to Tambaram. Seventeen EMUs from Chengalpet to Chennai Beach leaving from 3.55 am to 1.50 pm will run from Tambaram to Chennai Beach only.

Two circular EMUs from Arakkonam to Chennai Beach and two from Tirumalpur to Chennai Beach will run only up to Tambaram. To avoid inconvenience for commuters, Southern Railway will operate passenger special trains between Chengalpet and Tirumalpur.
