Actor Kamal Haasan has stated that he will be making an announcement to the public on November 7, which incidentally happens to be his birthday. In an article that he has written for Vikatan, a Tamil magazine, the star has hinted at starting an organisation where he will collaborate with the youth to address issues in the state.
There has been wide speculation about the actor's leap into politics, which he had admitted is on the cards. While he has taken to criticising the AIADMK Government and meeting leaders from other political parties, he is yet to make any clear announcement about his debut in the political sphere. This latest announcement hints at the actor deciding to form his own 'Iyakkam' or organisation.
In the column the actor writes, "I understand that there is an army of youngsters waiting out there. I believe that I have the duty to unite them. So, on November 7, I will announce a method by which I can communicate with them."
Kamal further goes on to say that he will be chalking out an action plan with the volunteers. He quoted the example of Arappor Iyakkam, a non-governmental organisation that fights corruption in the state, to point out the nature of work he seeks to initiate.
"I welcome people who feel a sense of duty towards the state of Tamil Nadu," the actor has reportedly said. "Those of you who think of it as a sacrifice please stay away, I don't want to be indebted to you," he added.
Following renewed speculation that he would announce his political entry on November 7, Kamal took to Twitter to dismiss such reports. He tweeted saying, “Can't announce party because media wants it. For years, the association members have been meeting on Nov 7. General announcements will be made in the Makkal Mandram.”

In the past, the actor had said that he is yet to find a party that matches with his political ideology. He made headlines when he went to visit Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and later welcomed Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to his office in Chennai.
“The reason why we got together, the purpose is singular, fighting against corruption and communalism. I also have the same reputation and so we decided to meet. It was a learning curve to meet him,” stated Kamal following his meeting with Kejriwal last month.
In his last column with the Tamil magazine, Kamal had apologised to the people for supporting the Centre’s demonetisation policy.
He also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accept his mistake, pointing out, “If the PM accepts his mistake without being adamant, then one more salaam is waiting for him from me. The sign of a good leader is when they can rectify their mistakes and more importantly when the can accept they made a mistake. Gandhi was able to do it, today also it is possible.”
