Accusing self-proclaimed spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of the Art of Living of intimidating Muslims and whipping up Hindu sentiment, a complaint was filed against him in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The complaint was filed by Syed Fayazuddin, a social activist, at the Saidabad police station.

The complainant said that the recent remarks made by Ravi Shankar on the Babri Masjid issue was an open threat against the minority community.

Speaking to TNM, Fayazuddin said, “His remarks that India will turn into Syria, if the court didn’t give judgement in favour of Hindus is highly condemnable. He is not just threatening the minority community but also provoking the Hindus--calling for a bloodbath.”

“He is also undermining the Supreme Court. We respect the Court, but he (Ravi Shankar) is threatening the Court itself. Such persons should be arrested for promoting terrorism,” he added.

Saidabad Inspector, Inspector K Sattaiah said that they have not registered a case yet and added, “We are taking legal opinion on the case.”

Fayazuddin said that he will approach the Court if the police don’t register a case against Sri Sri.

Recently, in a TV interview, the Art of Living founder said, “Any delay in resolving the Ram temple issue could result in a Syria-like situation in India and the courts have to respect the majority opinion.”

Ravi Shankar has been receiving a lot of flak for his outrageous comment. AIMIM president Asaddudin Owaisi said that Ravi Shankar should be arrested for making such provocative remarks.

Even Shiv Sena party’s mouthpiece Saamna in its editorial slammed him and said, “Such controversial statements from a spiritual leader isn't advisable. What kind of art of living is this? Is Art of Living all about killing people or threatening them?”

It also said that the NIA should investigate if he is receiving funds to make such statements.

Asking Ravi Shankar to stay away from the Babri Masjid issue, it said, “In our country, people from any field are poking their nose in important national issues.”
