The Hyderabad police have issued a strict warning to Mohammed Pahelwan and his followers not to disrupt the law and order situation in the Old City area.
Pahelwan was acquitted in Akbaruddin Owaisi attack case on Thursday night, which resulted in a huge rally in Barkas, that lasted through the night, till Friday morning.
This had reportedly left the police in a tizzy, as they had a tough time controlling the crowd that had gathered to meet and greet Pahelwan.
According to the Times of India, Deputy Commissioner of Police(South Zone) V Satyanarayana spoke to a few youngsters who could potentially create trouble, and warned that strict action would be taken against them.
"Irrespective of party affiliation, action will be taken if any one takes law into their hands. In the case of Mohammed Pahelwan, it was wrong on part of them to take out a rally. If Pahelwan or his followers repeat it, we will start bind over proceedings," Satyanarayana told TOI.
However, some politicians alleged bias in this move by the police.
Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) leader Amjed Ullah Khan pointed out that an AIMIM public meeting at Khilwat on Saturday night, where Akbaruddin Owaisi was addressing a crowd, which allegedly went on till 1 am, but the police did not stop the event.
Mohammed Pahelwan walked out of the Cherlapally Central Jail on Thursday night, after spending six years in jail.
Police said that Pahelwan, a former AIMIM party member turned property dealer, allegedly hatched the plan to attack Akbaruddin.
Akbaruddin Owaisi was attacked on April 30, 2011, by assailants with knives, who later opened fire at him.
The court held four people guilty, and sentenced them to 10 years imprisonment. Pahelwan and 10 others were acquitted.
Heading straight to the media persons gathered, Pahelwan said, "We're not the kind that is scared of anyone or hides from anyone. We are not the kind who stand in masjids and make false promises. We are straightforward people and God is with us.”
Interestingly, he also made a reference to 2019, the year that Telangana will head for polls.
“We are just waiting for 2019. We know what to do and how to do it,” he said, as his followers cheered.
