The Hyderabad Traffic Police took to social media on Tuesday, to dispel rumours that the city's residents would have to face massive traffic snarls in the upcoming week.

This came after a message began doing the rounds on Facebook and WhatsApp. The message reads:

Hyderabadis, Brace yourselves for Traffic Nightmares & Diversions.

20-22 ~ Vice President
23-26 ~ 1 lakh weddings
26 ~ Rahman live
28 ~ Metro Inauguration by PM & CM (VVIP Movement)
28-30 ~ #GES2017 Ivanka Trump, entrepreneurs, investors & business leaders from around the world.

Responding to the message, the Hyderabad Traffic police posted on Facebook, saying, "The above message is widely in circulation in social media. Road commuters in Hyderabad need not panic. We will have VVIP movements only on the afternoon of November 28 until the morning of November 29."

"We are also requesting the security agencies to take those routes which would cause minimum inconvenience to the public and they have readily consented to it. However from 28 to 29, there would be VVIP movements in ORR-Gachibowli- Miyapur-Madhapur corridor. Other than that, rest of the areas, traffic is likely to be normal. Commuters are requested not to panic over the social media posts," it added.

Meanwhile, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is also adopting a method called micro surfacing, to repair roads.

"Microsurfacing is a slurry seal (mixture of toughened polymer modified asphalt, aggregate and fillers) which is used for maintaining existing road," the GHMC explained in a press note.

This has not gone unnoticed by the city's residents, who have been taking to Twitter, asking Ivanka to visit the city frequently, so the roads are maintained.

Responding to such comments, Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao while speaking to a gathering on Tuesday, made a light-hearted remark, saying, "People keep poking fun that you’re doing a lot for Ivanka Trump. No, we are doing a lot for our citizens as well, but it’s just that Ivanka Trump happens to be coming after she has become senior advisor to the President of the United States, so we are sprucing up the place a bit…obviously anyone would do that, right? If it had been Donald Trump I would have had second thoughts but…"
