Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday met governor E S L Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad to seek suggestions for the Ayuta Chandi Yagam that he wants to perform in December, the Times of India reported.

"Political issues were not the main subject for discussion. Since Narasimhan is well-versed with the rituals, the chief minister sought his inputs for the Ayuta Chandi Yagam for the well-being of Telangana," an official told the newspaper.

The yagam involves 1,000 priests praying non-stop for days, chanting 700 mantras 10,000 times to appease Goddess Durga and make oblations through 100 sacrificial fire pits.

This is not the first time that the chief minister, known for his belief in 'vastu' and astrology, is planning to conduct a yagna as December last year also saw him arrange the same yagna for the well-being of Telangana.

KCR has reportedly planned to conduct the yagna at his farmhouse near Gajwel in Medak district, between December 23 and 27.

The ritual is also believed to bestow the one who performs it, with invincible powers.

The Telangana chief minister is scheduled to leave for Delhi on Monday, where he is slated to attend a meeting of the Niti Aayog. KCR is also planning to meet Prime Minister Modi.
