The owner of The Park Hotel and Banyan Tree resorts in Hyderabad, Mir Nasir Ali Khan, has been accused of cheating and issuing murder threats to his uncle, Junaid Adil. Junaid, who lives in America, approached the media on Friday to make sensational allegations against Nasir, who is the Managing Director of MAK Projects, and his brother Mir Hussain Ali Khan, who is Whole Time Director of FSL Projects Limited.
Nasir and Hussain are reportedly Junaid’s sister’s sons.
Addressing the media in Hyderabad on Friday, Junaid claimed that his nephews had forged his signature and sold his properties without his knowledge. He accused them of just paying Rs 3.35 crore in return for his properties worth crores, and further claimed that they had threatened him against returning to Hyderabad.
Junaid told the media, “In 1994 Nasir and his brother Hussain, who were small builders then, approached me during one of my visits to Hyderabad and told me that they would develop my properties. Convinced with their plan, I entered into a development agreement. They developed my land and constructed Lakeshore Towers in Raj Bhavan.”
“I was supposed to get a share of 40% in the project. However, they didn’t pay me. Later they told me that they wanted to sell a part of my property, so that they could use the money as capital for their businesses. They assured me that they will pay back the money. Since I was in a senior position in Dubai, I didn’t require money, so I didn’t ask them,” Adil claimed. “This is the first property dealing in which they cheated me,” he said.
But this wasn’t the only time that Nasir and Hussain cheated him, Junaid claimed. “Later, in 2002 they again requested me to sell my second property for a hotel project. I entered into the agreement along with my brother, Javeed Kamal, as the property belonged to both of us. In 2003, Nasir and Hussain sold the property and took a cheque in my name. I flew down from Dubai to execute the sales deed and rushed back. The cheques never saw the light of day and were never deposited in my account. They kept assuring me, each time I questioned them,” Junaid said.
He claimed that after years of assurance, Nasir finally promised to pay him Rs 12 crore in 2016 – this was supposed to be the amount of Rs 8 crore that the brothers allegedly owed him, along with an interest.
On this promise, Junaid said he came back to India around Ramzan in 2016. “However, when I came back, Nasir kept avoiding me, claiming that it was the month of Ramzan and that he was busy. Later, I went back to America.
Junaid said he’s been shuttling between America and India now, and lives with his relatives currently.
“They didn’t even pay the service tax for the properties and threatened to get me imprisoned for evading taxes. I had to pay the taxes. During this process I also discovered that they forged documents to get the Power of Attorney over my brother and my properties to register Sale Deeds for Lakeshore Towers and The Park Hotel,” Junaid alleged.
Junaid further said that he had filed two complaints against Nasir and Hussain, and showed FIR copies to the media.
Speaking to TNM, B Ramulu, Sub Inspector from Central Crime Station reluctantly said, “That is an old case.”
When TNM asked if they didn’t make any progress despite an FIR being registered, he replied, “No, we didn’t take any further action. We booked an FIR after they approached us. There is no progress,” he said.
TNM tried contacting both Nasir and Hussain. However, despite several attempts over the last three days they didn’t respond to either our messages or calls.
