Sitting MLA from Chennur, Nallala Odelu, who had locked himself up inside his home and threatened to take drastic steps in protest against the TRS party for denying him a ticket, has now claimed that he will work for the party.

Odelu, who was confident of getting a party ticket for the upcoming elections, received a jolt on September 6 when he was left out of the list of nominees announced by party president K Chandrasekhar Rao. Instead Balka Suman, the MP from Pedapalle, got Odelu's seat.

Odelu had locked himself up inside his home on Tuesday, claiming that he would not step out of his house till his demands were met. The protest continued for nearly 14 hours and the MLA had threatened of taking extreme steps if the party chief didn’t announce his name as party nominee within 24 hours.

Following his protests, Odelu was summoned by TRS supremo KCR. In the meeting, it is learnt that KCR lashed out at Odelu and asked him to mend his ways. Shortly after the meeting, Odelu told media that KCR had asked him to work for the party and that he will abide by the party supremo’s decision.

On Friday, Odelu said that he will work to ensure the victory of Balka Suman, who is contesting from his constituency.

Speaking to TNM, Odelu said, “I am a TRS loyalist. I will always be with TRS, irrespective of whether I get a party ticket or not. There are no differences betweenBalka Suman and me. KCR had convinced me that the party needs me to work on ground, so I will do that. I will stand by KCR’s decision.”

Meanwhile, the conflict between Suman and Odelu turned ugly on Wednesday after one of Odelu’s supporters,  Regunta Gattaiah, tried to set himself ablaze and left several others around him injured when Suman visited Indaram village in Jaipur mandal for his election campaign.

Odelu is a former government whip and a candidate from the SC community. Konda Surekha, an MLA from Warangal East, has accused KCR of committing injustice to the marginalized communities after another SC candidate from TRS, Babu Mohan, was also denied a party ticket.
