Hyderabad Vice Chancellor Apparao Podile, who is being investigated in the case filed over the death of Rohith Vemula, has been in a room in his quarters for some hours on Tuesday morning.

Students began fresh protests on Tuesday after he sent emails announcing that he would be resuming charge as VC, and journalists were informed about a press conference about it at 11.30 am.

Gathering at the VC’s quarters on campus, many students who have been protesting against the VC’s resuming of duties, said that ABVP students were inside the room with the VC, along with some members of the Executive Council.

However, ABVP leader Susheel Kumar denied that any members of the student group were with the group.

One of the Life Sciences students who is with the VC in the room told The News Minute that none of the students there were from the ABVP. He said:

“We came in solidarity with the VC and because we heard that students are coming here to destroy the university property. There was no one from ABVP, we all are Life Sciences students who support the VC. There are 5,500 students in the campus and the VC cannot be responsible for each and every student. Today there was a meeting (of Deans) at the VC's Lodge so we came here to protect the VC and the property as we got to know that they are going to create violence here.

“They cannot always beat someone or create nonsense by being violent on the campus. How many times will they do this? How much property will they destroy?"

“If they want justice they should approach judiciary instead of creating violence."
